The Friday Feeling - Sid at Play

I can't think of a better person to represent that glorious 'Friday Feeling' than Sid James. The cheeky laugh, mischievous twinkle in the eyes, warm, lovable personality and pure zest for living act as an inspiration to us all to enjoy life to its fullest.

To welcome the beginning of another weekend, here is a selection of wonderful photographs featuring Sid relaxing with family and friends.

Taken in approximately 1964, Sid takes the wheel of his magnificent E-Type Jaguar. Son Steve is his equally excited passenger.

Sid gets behind the wheel once more, this time on a visit to the Motor Show at Earls Court in 1963. I believe that the car he is testing here is a Rover P6.

Okay, so this one isn't strictly of Sid relaxing or at play. Believe it or not, he was actually working here! This is a publicity shot for the 1961 release The Green Helmet, which was set in the world of motor racing. Alongside Sid are his co-stars from the film, Bill Travers and Nancy Walters

I love this photograph taken at the James family home. While daughter Susan is engrossed in a book, Sid and son Steve have their attention diverted by the big and beautiful Buster!

When I spoke to Steve James a little while ago about life with Sid, he mentioned that his dad was an avid reader.

Sid and his wife Val were among the guests who attended the wedding of Tommy Steele at St Patrick's Church, London in 1960.

There'll be more Friday fun with Sid next week. Until next time...
